First of all, "Eid Mubarak". I hope that despite the challenges we have all faced from last week's storms, you are enjoying the Eid Al-Adha holiday break with your family, friends and loved ones.
Let me update you on the status of our efforts to restore normalcy to our community following last Wednesday's heavy rainfall and inundations.
Facilities and Community has been, and will continue, working around the clock to repair the damage done to our homes and facilities. Although clearly some of the repair work will continue for some weeks, especially improving the waterproofing of roofs, our target is to facilitate a smooth resumption of our ordinary community and academic activities on Saturday, December 5, 2009.

In the residential area many of the required repairs have been completed. The rest are either in progress, scheduled, or awaiting tenants' permission to perform inspection and repair. We aim to have all homes inspected by the end of this week and complete necessary repairs as soon as humanly possible. Of course, if required, temporary accommodation will be provided.
All required work in the academic facilities and all associated support services will be completed and back in normal operation by this Thursday December 3rd.
I would like to thank you for your patience and support during the past few days. I know how challenging this has been to all of us, and my team and I welcome your feedback and recommendations.

As our Eid holiday winds down, I feel I would be remiss if I didn't suggest we also take a moment to remember those even more severely affected by the floods, especially in our neighbouring city of Jeddah. We pray for them and remember especially those who lost loved ones, and ask God to give their families and friends the strength and patience to get through this very difficult period they are going through.
